«For 30 years, we became accustomed to a situation where freedom of speech was often understood as rumors, speculation, and empty talk. Previously, such things did not receive proper attention, and public life was mainly focused exclusively on politics. Today, however, a whole series of laws has been adopted on these issues. They are in force and applied in practice. Those who were used to loud statements and groundless accusations are gradually learning to live within the framework of the law. NGO representatives have also begun complying with legal requirements,»
the head of state added.
He recalled that in the past there had been attempts to impose on society phenomena that did not correspond to the mentality and traditions of the Kyrgyz people, including various marches and rallies.
«Today all processes are within the legal framework, and we live respecting the rule of law. If there are any shortcomings or mistakes on the part of the authorities, then those who are ready to speak about them based on facts and evidence will always be given the green light,» Sadyr Japarov said.
The president stressed that if there are facts of corruption or embezzlement, people should speak about them regardless of who is involved.
«Such citizens only help me. We will not show leniency toward those who harm the state and the people. All citizens see and understand this well,» he concluded.
