The package includes several instruments:

loan funds: €27.3 million (€17.2 million for BTS and €10.1 million for BTE);

concessional financing: €22.7 million from the Green Climate Fund;

technical support: €3.3 million for project implementation.

Infrastructure modernization involves a transition to renewable energy sources:.

For BTS: reconstruction of pumping stations, including the installation of solar photovoltaic panels.

For BTE: installation of the first large-scale heat pumps in Central Asia and conversion of boiler houses to renewable energy sources.

General measures: modernization of centralized heating networks, implementation of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and procurement of specialized equipment.

The project is aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which is critical for improving air quality in winter, as Bishkek is included in the EBRD’s Green Cities program, the bank noted.
