The grand opening will take place at the Ala-Too cinema at 4:30 p.m. The first film in the program will be Shenzhou 13, a film about space, presented in 8K format.

The film is unique in that a significant part of its footage was filmed directly in orbit by the Shenzhou 13 crew.

During their six-month mission, cosmonauts Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping, and Ye Guangfu not only worked on the Chinese space station but also acted as camera operators, using a specially designed, ultra-high-definition 8K camera.

Bishkek viewers will be able to see Earth and everyday human life in space through the eyes of the astronauts, without the computer-generated reconstruction of familiar spacescapes. The film combines documentary observation, modern filmmaking technology, and the story of a real manned mission.

One of the program’s highlights will be the historical action film The Bodyguard —a sweeping story about the warrior-guide Dao Ma, who has to lead a mysterious man through the desert to ancient Chang’an.

The film was directed by Yuen Woo-ping, one of the most renowned masters of Chinese action cinema. The film brings together several generations of genre stars, including Wu Jing, Nicholas Tse, and Yu Shi. Filming took place, among other places, in the desert landscapes of Xinjiang.

After its release in China in 2026, the film became a major event on the national film market and set a box office record for Chinese wuxia films.

In the coming weeks, screenings of other Chinese films will be held in Bishkek.

Audiences will be presented with films of various genres, offering an insight into contemporary Chinese culture, society, and cinema. Films will be shown in Chinese with Russian subtitles. The schedule of subsequent screenings will be announced later.

Chinese Cinema Days will not be limited to film screenings alone. It is planned to invite filmmakers and representatives of the film industry to the project’s events, which will expand direct creative contacts between Kyrgyzstan and China.
