Total exports of live animals from January to May 2026 amounted to $847,100, down 9.3 percent compared with the same period last year.

Cattle continued to account for the largest share of export revenue. Kyrgyzstan exported 9,468 heads of cattle worth $2,124.8 million, with all supplies going to Uzbekistan. However, the physical volume of exports decreased by 15.7 percent.

Kyrgyzstan continues to restrict free exports of livestock, with supplies allowed only under special quotas.

Exports of live horses, donkeys, and mules totaled 194 animals worth $84,800, with the main shipments sent to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Imports of live animals and poultry, meanwhile, increased. Over the five-month period, imports reached $5,409.9 million, which is 2.8 percent higher than in January—May 2025.

The largest growth was recorded in the poultry segment. Kyrgyzstan imported 765,169 birds worth $1,363.2 million. In value terms, poultry imports surged by 53.1 percent. The main suppliers were Hungary and Russia.

Imports of live cattle amounted to 4,709 heads worth $1,158.4 million, with the main supplies coming from Russia and Kazakhstan.

The import of pigs also increased significantly: 2,587 heads worth $483,000 were brought in from Kazakhstan, marking a 2.4-fold increase compared with the previous year.
