According to him, the state has provided consistent and effective support to the industry in recent years.

«The decisions taken include a range of measures: a reduction in the single tax, a VAT exemption for imported technology and equipment, large-scale legalization of jewelry, the distribution of Kyrgyz gold to domestic jewelers (we have been requesting this access for 30 years), and the issuance of preferential loans at 6 percent per annum for the purchase of equipment and technology for jewelry production,» Azamat Makeshev said.

He recalled that the jewelry legalization campaign officially ended on March 1, 2026. During the campaign, 942 entrepreneurs voluntarily legalized their jewelry production. Their total assets amounted to almost 16.8 billion soms.

«This allowed us to bring production out of the shadow economy, and investment potential in this sector increased. Globally, 55 percent of mined gold is used for jewelry production; the rest is used in investments, national banks, technology, and so on. One kilogram of processed gold provides ten jobs: three in manufacturing, three in trade, and four in cross-industry areas,» he noted.

The Association of Jewelers of the Kyrgyz Republic has been operating since 1998.
