According to the ministry, 81 people drowned in the country in 2025 and 86 in 2024.

Of these, 59 drowned during the summer swimming season last year, and 67 in 2024.

Most of these cases were recorded in Chui and Issyk-Kul regions. The fewest cases were recorded in Talas, Batken, and Naryn regions.

To prevent accidents on the water during the summer, Bishkek Main Department of Internal Affairs, together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, conduct preventative outreach activities near bodies of water, canals, reservoirs, and other areas not intended for swimming.

During these activities, officers talk to minors near bodies of water unaccompanied by adults, explain water safety rules, and warn them of the dangers of swimming in prohibited areas.

Particular attention is paid to preventative outreach to parents and legal guardians of minors.
