The parties signed a protocol confirming the completion of the works and approved a new plan for the rehabilitation of contaminated sites in the country for 2026–2028.

In addition, a memorial stele was unveiled in Min-Kush dedicated to the history of the mining industry and the strategic partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

Rosatom Deputy Director Nikolay Spassky said the project carries not only environmental and economic importance but also moral significance.

«Today we drew a line under the first stage. Under the CIS framework, we processed 1.5 million cubic meters of soil at two sites — Min-Kush and Kadzhi-Sai. Min-Kush was the most difficult site,» he noted.

According to Spassky, technologies were used during the project that had not previously been applied in global practice.

Min-Kush is considered one of the most problematic uranium legacy sites in Kyrgyzstan dating back to the Soviet era. The reclamation of tailings is aimed at reducing environmental and radiological risks for the population and surrounding ecosystems.
