On the holiday, President Sadyr Japarov visited the city and inspected the reconstruction of Pushkin Park in Karakol. The head of state was also presented with a number of infrastructure projects—the construction of a heating and power plant, the restoration of the city’s history museum, the construction of a multifunctional sports complex, and a Congress Hall.

City authorities note that these are not the only changes awaiting residents and visitors to Karakol. The City Hall launched Karakol Zhany Dem program and announced intention to modernize the administrative center of Issyk-Kul region, which is visited by thousands of tourists.

The city administration promises to transform the cultural and historical center of the region into a modern and comfortable city.

«This is a new vision for the city’s development, based on respect for its history, preserving its unique character, and creating opportunities for future generations. The program is being implemented in close partnership between the Karakol City Hall and businesses,» the municipality noted.

The first stage of the program includes:

major renovations of 10 schools and kindergartens;

creation of a modern public space along Karakol River;

complete renovation of Victory Park;

reconstruction of city and intra-block roads;

installation of three modern architectural steles at the entrance to the city;

All of these projects are already in the implementation phase.

The City Hall emphasizes that Karakol Zhany Dem is not simply a collection of individual construction projects; the program’s goal is to create a modern, convenient, beautiful, and safe city.

«We would like Karakol to stop being perceived simply as a gateway to Issyk-Kul or a ski resort. The city has every opportunity to become one of the most comfortable, beautiful, and attractive cities in Kyrgyzstan. This is precisely our goal,» Karakol Mayor Talant Imanov said.

The bulk of the work at educational institutions is planned to be completed by the start of the new academic year, and improvement projects will be implemented in stages over 2026-2027.

According to the municipality, the total investment in Karakol’s development program could range from $62 to $82 million.
