Reconstruction of the airport began in May last year. As part of the project, the terminal complex was expanded by more than 22,000 square meters, passenger and baggage systems were upgraded, and the number of boarding gates is planned to be increased from eight to about 13.

The changes also affected the area around the terminal. The number of parking spaces was increased from about 700 to 1,500. A multilevel parking facility was built and connected to the terminal by a covered walkway. A new access road was also constructed to separate passenger traffic from official delegations and other vehicles.

According to Airports of Kyrgyzstan OJSC, the construction phase has been completed. Finishing works are currently underway and are expected to be completed within a month.
