It is reported that the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union are tightening the rules for handling Russian ruble cash. In Belarus, more than a third of the country’s banks have established fees for depositing Russian rubles into non-resident accounts.

As of June 2026, Belarus had 21 operating banks. At least eight of them introduced fees ranging from 2 to 5 percent.

Several banks in Armenia have completely stopped accepting cash Russian rubles.

In Kyrgyzstan, EcoIslamicBank introduced a 5 percent fee on cash rubles for transfers via SWIFT, RBC reports.

In Kazakhstan, Bank CenterCredit introduced a 5 percent fee for accepting cash Russian currency through bank branches, terminals, and ATMs.
