Speaking at the event, the head of the Cabinet called the project strategically important for the capital’s ecology and for future generations.
According to him, in recent years, the government has been implementing a range of measures to improve the environmental situation in Bishkek. These include supply of the private sector with gas, providing preferential loans for gas connections, replacing diesel buses with electric and gas-powered ones, and switching to higher-quality types of coal.
«The start of the second phase is a continuation of a large-scale initiative to fundamentally improve the environmental situation in Bishkek and create a green, clean, and modern metropolis. The implementation of this project will solve the waste problem, create an additional source of green energy, and provide cleaner air for city residents,» Adylbek Kasymaliev noted.
According to him, after the launch of the second phase, carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by approximately 312,000 tons per year.
The Cabinet Chairman also emphasized the symbolism of the capsule-laying ceremony.
«By beginning construction of the plant’s second phase, we are laying a time capsule for future generations. This is a promise to our children—to pass on to them not a city drowning in waste, but a modern, technologically advanced, and environmentally friendly capital,» he said.
The first phase of the complex was commissioned on December 27, 2025. It is designed to process up to 1,000 tons of waste per day. After the completion of the second phase, the total capacity of the plant will reach 3,000 tons per day. The new unit will be able to process an additional 2,000 tons of waste daily. Construction is scheduled to be completed within three years.
