According to him, lawyer Chynara Zhakypbekova, who represents Kursan Asanov, requested that the hearing be held in public. However, the other defendants opposed the motion, and the court rejected it.

The defendants in the case include prominent politicians: former State Committee for National Security chief Kamchybek Tashiev, ex-Speaker of the Zhogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, and former Prosecutor General Kurmankul Zulushev. Five people who signed an appeal to the president calling for early elections are also among the suspects: Bekbolot Talgarbekov, Kursan Asanov, Kurmanbek Dyikanbaev, Aaly Karashev, and Emil Uzakbaev.

In early July, the Pervomaisky District Court found all those involved guilty of attempting to forcibly seize power and sentenced each to four years in prison with confiscation of property. However, the prison terms were replaced with three years of probationary supervision.
