Kyrgyzstan imports more than 90 percent of its fuel needs. Amid declining purchasing opportunities in Russia, the country’s authorities are seeking alternative suppliers, including Uzbekistan, Belarus, China, and Azerbaijan. No contract signing or expected start date for Uzbek deliveries has yet been announced.

Earlier, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed to create an Interstate Council and increase mutual trade turnover to $2 billion.
