As a result, both officials will continue to serve in an acting capacity until the start of the autumn parliamentary session.

A day earlier, personnel changes were made in the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the SCNS. President Sadyr Japarov signed decrees dismissing the previous heads and appointing new acting officials.

Former Prosecutor General Maksat Asanaliev was appointed head of the SCNS, while his First Deputy Malik Bekturganov became acting Prosecutor General.

According to the Constitution of Kyrgyzstan, the candidacies of the Prosecutor General and the Chairman of the SCNS must be approved by the Zhogorku Kenesh. However, sources say that deputies are not expected to convene an extraordinary meeting on these issues before autumn.

Thus, the final approval of the new heads of law enforcement agencies is expected to take place after Parliament resumes its work in the fall.
