According to him, the refusal was issued on May 29.

Earlier, Irina Karamushkina had appealed to President Sadyr Japarov for clemency. At the same time, through her lawyer, she stated that she did not admit guilt. It is now assumed that the president’s refusal may be connected to this circumstance.

Previously, the Bishkek City Court toughened Karamushkina’s sentence in the case related to the Koi-Tash events, increasing her prison term to eight years.

The case concerning the Koi-Tash events has been under court review since 2022. The materials also include episodes linked to the Bishkek Heating and Power Plant, Dastan plant, and land plots. Former Interior Minister Abdylda Suranchiev and former Energy Minister Askarbek Shadiev were mentioned in one of these episodes. In total, 20 people are defendants in the case, including 12 charged specifically in connection with the Koi-Tash events.
