The Statistics Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) recorded the highest growth rates of revenue and expenditure among the EAEU countries in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Treasury revenues grew by 53 percent to 224.8 billion soms ($2.6 billion). The state spent 147.4 billion soms ($1.7 billion), increasing expenditures by 46 percent.
Armenia also ended the first quarter with a surplus of 65.2 billion drams ($200 million), a 3.1-fold increase.
The remaining member states of the union experienced growing deficits. In Kazakhstan, the gap between revenue and expenditure widened by 25 percent, reaching 699.5 billion tenge ($1.4 billion). In Russia, revenues fell by 8.2 percent, causing the federal budget deficit to soar 2.3-fold, reaching 4,509.6 trillion rubles ($57.6 billion).
Interestingly, over the past year (according to data for the first quarter of 2026), Kyrgyzstan’s public debt increased by 47.7 percent. This is the highest rate of borrowing growth among the EAEU countries. The total public debt reached $9.8 billion. The main reason for the sharp increase in Kyrgyzstan was the abnormal growth in domestic borrowing. Over the year, the country’s domestic debt increased 2.1 times (by 107 percent) and reached 398.1 billion soms.
