According to the State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan, the draft document provides for the establishment of a Kyrgyz-Chinese committee for cooperation on border crossing point management, as well as working groups for individual crossing points.

The new cooperation mechanisms are expected to improve coordination between the competent authorities of the two countries and enable them to address issues related to operations of border crossing points more promptly.

The agency noted that the initialing of the agreement would be an important step in developing Kyrgyzstan — China cooperation and improving the efficiency of interaction between the state agencies of the two countries.

The document is expected to be signed during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Kyrgyzstan, which will take place as part of the SCO summit.
