According to her, there are more than 37,000 children with disabilities in the country, of whom over 29,000 are covered by various forms of education.

The official noted that the Ministry of Education’s main policy is the development of inclusive education and the rejection of segregation based on health conditions. Today, nearly 19,000 children with disabilities study in mainstream schools. At the same time, children with severe diagnoses are enrolled in specialized educational institutions. Some children also receive education through the country’s first online school.

The situation of more than 8,000 children who remain outside the education system has raised concerns among MPs.

«Either there is a lack of coordination between state bodies, or we do not see the full picture. Eight thousand children are ‘missing.’ We need proper records: what diagnoses they have, why they are not studying, and where they are located. Even if they have mental disabilities, they should at least be included in educational or socialization programs,» MP Toktobubu Ashimbaeva said.

In response, Nadira Dzhusupbekova noted that the condition of many children who do not attend school is very severe. According to her, such children need rehabilitation centers where teachers from nearby schools could conduct lessons and help them socialize.
