The ministry emphasized that every child in Kyrgyzstan has the right to a safe childhood, education, and protection from exploitation.

According to the Labor Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, the minimum age for official employment is 16 years. In certain cases, employment from the age of 15 is permitted with the consent of authorized bodies.

Teenagers aged 14 and older may perform light labor in their free time with the consent of their parents or guardians.

Working hours are also limited: for workers aged 14-16, no more than 24 hours per week, and for those aged 16-18, no more than 36 hours.

The ministry noted that legislation explicitly prohibits the employment of minors in difficult, harmful, and dangerous work. Labor inspectors, in conjunction with law enforcement agencies and social services, monitor compliance.

«The use of child labor in its worst forms is strictly prohibited in Kyrgyzstan,» the Ministry of Labor emphasized.

Citizens are urged to report violations of children’s rights by calling the 111 hotline.
