Specialized equipment is currently operating on campus territory. Workers have already dismantled a significant part of the fencing in the area where the future road will run.

The project entails constructing Minzhilkiev Street through the campus, creating a through-passage. The new road is intended to connect Chingiz Aitmatov Avenue with Tynaliev Street and relieve traffic congestion in the southern part of the city.

The road construction initiative previously sparked public debate. Some students and activists oppose the project, fearing increased traffic within the campus, decreased safety, and a reduction in green space. An online petition has also been launched, signed by thousands of users.

At the same time, the Bishkek City Hall stated that the project is included in the city’s Master Plan and is aimed at improving transportation connectivity and reducing traffic congestion. They also noted that the project will incorporate safety measures, including underpasses, fencing, and restricted access to academic buildings.

Earlier, in the Zhogorku Kenesh, Deputy Dastanbek Dzhumabekov called on the municipality to take into account international agreements and consider possible diplomatic and legal aspects when implementing the project on university grounds.
