According to her, this doesn’t mean the subject isn’t taught at all; replacements are provided.
The teachers shortage is primarily observed in Russian-language schools.
«Future teachers aren’t choosing Russian-language departments. Therefore, we are asking for support from our Russian colleagues. Currently, 140 teachers from Russia are working in our schools as part of the Russian Teacher Abroad project. But this is not enough. A school-based practice requirement has been introduced starting from student years. Last year in Bishkek, 400 mid-level university students helped cover the teacher shortage,» the minister said.
She also noted that teachers’ salaries were significantly increased from April 1, 2026.
«After this, I believe the number of people willing to work in the education system will increase. For example, in Bishkek, a starting teacher without experience receives around 35,000 som per month for a full workload. Teachers from private schools have already expressed interest in returning to public schools,» Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva added.
