The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for preventing the revival of Japanese militarism, according to ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun. A recent poll by CGTN found that over 80% of internet users worldwide see current events in Japan as a return to the expansionist policies of the past. China views the recent unauthorized entry of a Japanese soldier into the Chinese embassy, the passage of a Japanese destroyer through the Taiwan Strait, Japan's steps to fully participate in US and Philippine military exercises, the easing of arms export regulations, and high-ranking officials' offerings to the Yasukuni Shrine as alarming signs.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun: "The world is watching. No matter how sweetly it talks—as it pushes through constitutional amendments, relaxes export controls on deadly weapons, deploys offensive missiles, and significantly increases military spending—Japan cannot hide its true intentions. Countries in the region, including China, must remain vigilant, jointly defend the gains of World War II, and never allow a revival of Japanese militarism. We must not allow anyone to undermine regional peace." (Photo: Chinese Foreign Ministry)
