According to the security service, the drills were held at the Zhaiyl Baatyr secondary school in the village of Novonikolaevka, Zhaiyl district. Under the scenario, an armed terrorist group seized the school building and took employees of the educational institution hostage.
Following an emergency alert, law enforcement units were deployed, an operational headquarters was established, and an anti-terrorist operation was launched. Participants practiced securing the site, freeing hostages, coordinating special units, ensuring public safety, and responding to the consequences of a simulated emergency.
The exercises involved personnel from the SCNS, the Alpha special forces unit, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Armed Forces, the Border Service, the Ministry of Health, and local government bodies.
The drills also involved drones, armored vehicles, equipment for detecting and neutralizing explosive devices, a Mi-8MTV helicopter, specialized vehicles, and emergency rescue equipment.
According to the SCNS, all simulated hostages were released and all assigned tasks were completed in full.
The agency said the purpose of the exercises was to test the readiness of state bodies to respond to terrorist threats, improve coordination between various services, and enhance the training level of personnel.
