The Kemin facility uses imported electricity, while the second is supplied by Kambar-Ata-2 HPP and is investing in the construction of new substations.

«Because of the heatwave, the issue concerns the transmission capacity of power lines only in Bishkek and Chui region. Kambar-Ata-2 is geographically unrelated to this situation. There is no technical basis for linking the current problems to cryptocurrency mining. Disconnecting the mining facilities would not improve the situation in Bishkek,» Altynbek Rysbekov said.

On July 17, following an emergency shutdown of two 220-kilovolt high-voltage lines — Kara-Balta — Glavnaya and Glavnaya — Shu — a massive failure occurred. Following this, the system’s automatic load-shedding system was activated.

In some areas of Bishkek and Chui region, temporary power outages began due to the high load on the power grid.
