According to sources, Zhumgalbek Shabdanbekov may continue working in another senior government position.

Zhumgalbek Shabdanbekov had headed the SCNS since February 2026. Prior to that, he served as deputy chairman of the special service and led the Ninth Service, responsible for state protection of the country’s top officials. In 2022, he was awarded the rank of major general.

According to sources, former Prosecutor General Maksat Asanaliev has been appointed as the new chairman of the SCNS. He was introduced to the staff.

Maksat Asanaliev was born on March 24, 1978, in the village of Kara-Koo, Issyk-Kul region. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Kyrgyz National University. He began his career in the state security bodies, working as an investigator and senior investigator for particularly important cases at the SCNS. He later held senior positions within the prosecution system and law enforcement agencies.

Maksat Asanaliev was appointed Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan in 2024.

In professional circles, Asanaliev is known for his tough management style and principled approach to investigating high-profile criminal cases. According to sources, these qualities were among the factors considered in his appointment as head of the SCNS.

It was earlier reported that Malik Bekturganov had taken Asanaliev’s place in the Prosecutor General’s Office. He previously served as First Deputy Prosecutor General.

According to sources, Kumarbek Baidyldaev is expected to be appointed First Deputy Prosecutor General, Emilbek Urkunbaev as Deputy Prosecutor General, and Nurbek Kaimov as Military Prosecutor. There has been no official confirmation of these personnel decisions yet.
