Five satellites will monitor the condition of glaciers, water resources, and agricultural lands in the region.
It is noted that the project to create an intelligent satellite network to monitor natural processes in Central Asia has been launched.
In its first phase, the China — Central Asia Space-Time Intelligent Satellite Network will consist of five satellites. The satellites will be able to monitor glaciers, rivers, lakes, geological deformations, and the condition of arable land in Xinjiang and other Central Asian countries around the clock, regardless of weather conditions.
The project is being implemented by the Xinjiang Space-Air-Ground Integrated Intelligent Computing Technology Laboratory. The data will be processed at the region’s international computing center. These will be used to create models for predicting floods caused by snowmelt, identifying agricultural diseases and pests, and preventing natural disasters. These tools will also be made available to Central Asian states.
The project’s technical solutions include a
«spatial-temporal large-scale language database, a snowmelt flood monitoring model, a transboundary agricultural monitoring model, and a multilingual large-scale model,»
the statement says.
