President Sadyr Japarov noted the particular significance of the current visit, which is the first official visit of the Georgian side to Kyrgyzstan at such a high level and marks the beginning of a new stage in the development of Kyrgyzstan — Georgia relations.
The parties discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues, including developing political dialogue, expanding trade and economic ties, strengthening transport and logistics cooperation, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The head of state expressed confidence that the Georgian Prime Minister’s visit will give new impetus to the further development of Kyrgyzstan — Georgia relations and will contribute to the achievement of concrete practical results. Particular attention was paid to intensifying political contacts between the two countries.
In the trade and economic sphere, positive dynamics in bilateral trade turnover were noted in recent years. At the same time, the parties emphasized the significant untapped potential and reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening economic cooperation, increasing mutual trade volumes, and expanding investment interactions.
Particular attention was paid to issues of transport connectivity and the development of the two countries’ transit potential.
President Sadyr Japarov noted that Georgia, with its unique geographical location and developed port infrastructure on the Black Sea, plays a vital role in ensuring transport connectivity between Asia and Europe. In this regard, cooperation between the two countries in transport and logistics is particularly important.
«In June 2024, a trilateral agreement was signed on the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. Nine thousand workers and more than 6,000 pieces of equipment have been involved in this project. This project is one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the region and will become an integral part of the modern transport architecture of the Eurasian space,» the president stated.
The head of state emphasized that the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will be one of the region’s key infrastructure projects and an important element of international transport corridors. He stated that after the project’s completion, a manifold increase in freight transit volumes along routes passing through Kyrgyzstan and onward to Georgian seaports is expected, which will contribute to strengthening trade and economic ties, developing transit potential, and enhancing the competitiveness of Eurasian transport routes.
During the meeting, the prospects for opening direct flights between Kyrgyzstan and Georgia were also discussed.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized his readiness to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, agricultural, tourism, cultural, sports, environmental, and other areas of mutual interest.
Irakli Kobakhidze invited Sadyr Japarov to pay an official visit to Georgia. The head of state accepted the invitation.
Following the talks, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening Kyrgyzstan — Georgia cooperation, implementing joint initiatives, and expanding interaction on pressing international issues.
President Sadyr Japarov expressed confidence that the agreements reached will further strengthen friendly relations between Kyrgyzstan and Georgia and open up new opportunities for mutually beneficial partnership.
