The relevant decree was signed by Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev.

ESG is an international business standard that takes into account environmental, social, and governance factors. Such requirements are increasingly becoming an important condition for attracting investment, obtaining financing, and enabling companies to access international markets.

According to the document, the implementation of ESG principles is expected to promote sustainable economic development, improve the competitiveness of Kyrgyz companies, increase the country’s investment attractiveness, and support the fulfillment of international obligations in the field of environment and climate.

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has been assigned to coordinate the implementation of the concept.

The National Bank and the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange are recommended to take the concept’s provisions into account when developing regulations, standards, and methodological guidelines in the field of sustainable finance and ESG.

In the coming years, Kyrgyzstan is expected to introduce new approaches to corporate governance, environmental responsibility, and disclosure of information on companies’ impact on society and the environment.

The resolution will enter into force in ten days after its official publication.
