For the first time in its history, Kyrgyzstan was elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. The republic will serve on one of the international organization’s principal organs in 2027-2028.

The vote took place on June 3 at the UN General Assembly in New York. A total of 142 states voted for Kyrgyzstan. The Philippines, competing for a seat on the Security Council, received 49 votes.
