Starting July 1, to enter the Russian Federation, it is necessary to:

1. Download the RulD mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.

2. Register using passport information.

3. Indicate the purpose of trip, entry and exit dates, and the region you are visiting.

4. Add photo, biometric data, and voice information to «personal account.»

5. Submit an entry application and receive a QR code to present at border control, which is valid for 90 days from the date of application.

The application must be submitted no later than 72 hours before crossing the state border.

In emergency cases related to a serious illness or death of a close relative, the application may be submitted at least 4 hours before entry.

At the same time, mandatory biometric identification of foreign citizens at checkpoints in Russia, which requires photographing and fingerprinting, remains in effect.

The Ministry of Labor also notes that the temporary stay in the Russian Federation for professional drivers from CIS member states engaged in international road transportation has been extended to a total of 180 days within a calendar year, provided they submit a statement in the prescribed manner regarding the purpose of their entry and stay (residence) in the Russian Federation.

The ministry recommends that citizens planning to travel to Russia for work or study from July 1, 2026, familiarize themselves with the new requirements in advance and register in the RuID app to avoid difficulties when crossing the border.
