China — Kyrgyzstan’s largest trading partner, with a trade turnover of $2,089.8 billion, accounting for 33.4 percent of total trade.
Russia — trade turnover reached $1,581.6 billion, representing 25.3 percent of the total trade.
Kazakhstan ranked third with $538.3 million in trade turnover, or 8.6 percent of total trade.
The member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) accounted for 38.7 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total trade turnover, or $2,421.5 billion.
Total exports from Kyrgyzstan in the first five months of 2026 amounted to $847.1 million. More than half of exported goods (52.8 percent) were supplied to EAEU markets.
The main buyers of Kyrgyz products were:
Russia — imported goods worth $246.4 million, accounting for 29.1 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total exports.
Kazakhstan — purchased goods worth $198.8 million (23.5 percent).
Switzerland — imported Kyrgyz products worth $159.2 million (18.8 percent). Precious metals traditionally make up a significant share of exports to this market.
Uzbekistan — purchased goods worth $100.3 million (11.8 percent).
Imports to Kyrgyzstan reached $5,409.9 billion during the reporting period. Nearly 69 percent of all imported goods came from three countries:
China accounted for 38 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s imports, supplying goods worth $2,057 billion. At the same time, Kyrgyz exports to China amounted to only $32.9 million, resulting in a significant trade imbalance between the two countries.
Russia supplied 24.7 percent of imports, exporting goods worth $1,335.2 billion to Kyrgyzstan.
Kazakhstan exported goods worth $339.5 million, accounting for 6.3 percent of the import market.
What is the trade balance and why it is negative
Kyrgyzstan’s total foreign trade turnover in the first five months of 2026 reached $6,257 billion. However, the structure of trade demonstrates a substantial imbalance:
Exports amounted to only $847.1 million.
As a result, Kyrgyzstan recorded a negative trade balance of $4,562.8 billion. In other words, the country spent 6.4 times more foreign currency on imported goods than it earned from exporting its own products to international markets.
