As previously reported, on June 17, minibus drivers refused to service their routes, demanding a revision of the current fare. They stated that the existing price does not cover fuel costs, maintenance, and vehicle servicing.

Head of the Karakol city motor transport depot Talant Tursunakunov said that the necessary documents for a fare increase have already been submitted for consideration and are currently awaiting approval by the City Council deputies.

«The issue is under review. Deputies previously expressed support for the initiative. We expect a decision within the next ten days,» he said.

According to preliminary data, the fare for most passengers may rise to 20 soms, while a reduced rate of 15 soms is planned for schoolchildren and pensioners.

Following negotiations with drivers, public transport operations in the city have been fully restored.
