According to operational data from the regional service, the first quarter of 2026 shows positive trends across several key indicators. The number of deaths among children under 12 months old decreased from 94 to 56 compared to the same period last year.

The number of stillbirths also declined from 62 to 28 cases, while the infant mortality rate fell from 14.8 to 11.1 per 1,000 live births. The number of deaths among children under five decreased from 115 to 71 cases.

«Participants of the meeting reviewed each case of child mortality in detail, identifying shortcomings in patronage monitoring, medical examinations, and coordination between healthcare workers and families. Particular attention was paid to early detection of risk factors, quality of newborn follow-up care, timely informing of parents about warning symptoms in children, and strengthening preventive work among the population,» the Health Ministry’s press service noted.

Following the meeting, healthcare facility heads were instructed to strengthen control over the implementation of existing clinical protocols and Ministry of Health regulations, improve the quality of pediatric care, and enhance interagency cooperation.
