According to law enforcement authorities, on the evening of May 24, an unknown man broke into the currency exchange office on Amir-Timur Street and attacked an employee, M.Kh., 33, with a knife.

The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition, but died during surgery.

Police detained the suspect, T.N., 38. According to investigators, during his arrest he attempted to harm himself, but police officers prevented it.

The Internal Affairs Department said surveillance cameras captured a man wearing a cap and mask entering the exchange office, repeatedly stabbing the employee, taking money, and fleeing the scene.

During the attack, another man tried to stop the attacker and suffered a hand injury.

A criminal case has been opened under Article «Murder» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The investigation is ongoing.

According to local media, the deceased was the father of three children.
